UM-Dearborn Volleyball Suffers Losses to Aquinas & Lourdes

The University of Michigan-Dearborn volleyball team had their first matchup of the week on Wednesday in an away match against Aquinas. They got swept, losing 3-0.


UM-Dearborn had a hard time on the attacking end, only swinging at .058 as a team. Sophomore Sydney Eggleton led the team with eight kills. Senior Regan Sliwinski and junior Allie Federlein both had four blocks. Junior Regan Rose had 21 assists, and sophomore Kenzie Mertz added on a nice seven digs.


The team was leading at the beginning of the first set 20-15, but Aquinas ended up coming back to win the set 25-23. Aquinas then went on to win the second set 25-16, and the third set 25-13.


The Wolverines stepped right back onto the court against Lourdes in a home matchup on Friday. They were again unable to find success, as they fell 3-0 in all three sets.


Junior Kielee Tondryk led this matchup with nine kills on 19 attacks. Mertz contributed 15 digs, and Rose also gave out 21 assists.


Lourdes controlled the match from start to finish. UM-Dearborn racked up 29 errors, while Lourdes was swinging .242 as a team. The Wolverines were bested in all three sets: 25-16, 25-16, and 25-15.


Although UM-Dearborn (14-15, 10-8 WHAC) had a rough week, they will look to bounce back in their upcoming matches. They are scheduled to play Lawerence Tech (11-19, 4-14 WHAC) on Wednesday in an away matchup at 7 PM. They will then square off against #21 Cornerstone (28-3, 19-0 WHAC) on Friday in another away matchup at 1 PM.
