The volleyball team took home two of three victories last week, defeating Sienna Heights and Kuyper, but taking a loss to Spring Arbor.
To start off the week on Wednesday, Sept. 6, Dearborn went up against Sienna Heights in a thrilling game that had students on the edge of their seats. Dearborn took the first set with a score of 25-23. Sienna Heights then took the second set with a score of 25-16. Michigan was then able to close everything out, winning the third and fourth set 25-23.
Marissa Fetterley and Regan Silwinski had six blocks each throughout the duration of the game. They also had five team members who finished with eight or more kills. Kielee Tondryk was on a roll with 12 kills in the final two sets, finishing with 14 points. Regan Rose had 40 assists with 13 digs, and Kenzie Mertz put up 16 digs as well.
Dearborn came out firing on all cylinders, with the crowd playing a big part in the victory. Everyone was excited to watch the team win.
Three days later, Dearborn played both Spring Arbor and Kuyper on Saturday, Sept 9. The first game was against Spring Arbor, where the team lost 3-2.
Tondryk had another great game with 16 kills and 17 points. The game was a back-and-forth that had to go to five sets, leading to Dearborn’s loss.
Dearborn had little time to reflect on their loss before they had another game against Kuyper. The team rallied, winning the game decisively with a 3-0 final.

Much of the team’s young talent was highlighted in the game against Kuyper. Alyssa Evans had nine kills within the game. Zoey Mertz had nine aces on her serves – which is no small feat. Senior Emily Buck had a ball with eight kills, and sophomore Alysaa Bommarito had 26 assists.
Dearborn had a pretty good week with their matches, bouncing back from two straight losses earlier this month. They kick off this upcoming weekend with a streak of away games against Lawrence Tech, Indiana Tech, and University of Northwestern Ohio, followed by two home games against Concordia and Madonna next week.
