On Monday, February 13th, join the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) in “beating the winter blues” with a caricature fundraising event. From 12-3 p.m. on the University Center stage, local Detroit artist Corey White will be doing hilarious caricature drawings. PRSSA will be giving out snacks, all for just a small suggested donation.
White is looking forward to interacting with students and creating amusing artwork guaranteed to cause a laugh. In addition to caricatures, White designs company logos, album art, cartoons, and mascots. Outside of art and design, White is also a teacher. He says he is excited for PRSSA’s event and looks forward to sketching for UM-Dearborn students, faculty, and staff.
PRSSA hopes to help students get through the long and cold winter semester with this unique opportunity.
The student org has hosted multiple fundraising events throughout the years, including the annual professional headshot fundraiser. At this event, returning in mid-March, students will have the opportunity to update their headshots with a professional photographer for their resumes, social media profiles, and personal portfolios.
April Marvin, President of PRSSA at UM-Dearborn, says, "We're really excited to offer something fun on campus, especially right before our professional headshot fundraiser, this is a great way to connect with other students while taking something home with you.”
With the optional $5 donation for the caricatures, PRSSA plans to give back to the university.
"We look forward to donating a portion of our funds to the student pantry like we did with our fundraising efforts last year, because giving back to UM-Dearborn is important to us," said Marvin.
"PRSSA is bringing in some excitement for students to be with their friends and make some new ones,” said VP of Communications, Holly Lalicata. “It's going to be hard to keep a straight face after seeing the amazing artwork Corey White will make!"
